Simulation of the transloading of a rocket from the heavy-lift carrier ship to the seaborne launching pad (Sea Launch project)

 

The work objective was to analyse the stabilization of the carrier rocket installation on the seaborne launching pad under external disturbance conditions.

Transloading conditions:

    carrier ship vibration;

    launching pad vibration;

    wind load on the rocket;

    ship and pad structure elements interfering the rocket body motion.

In this example the task was to evaluate whether the jet vane stabilization system could ensure shock-free transloading. Air-feed jet engines of the stabilization system are mounted on the rocket transloading cradles.

The analysis with the EULER software proved the efficiency of the jet vane stabilization system for transloading of a rocket from the carrier ship to the seaborne launching pad.
